The Principal of the High School allows his mind to revert to the days of youth and once again becomes "Huckleberry Finn." It all happened like this: Prof. Barron, who according to his wife's statement, rarely stays out later than twelve or one o'clock at night, failed to return last Tuesday night by the usual hour. So, as the time grew later and later Mrs. Barron as wives sometimes do grew uneasy and instituted a husband hunt. A search of his usual haunts at the high school failed to net the required results. Next move was a canvass of the homes of all the Wilmore characters who were known to be (or suspected of being) more or less night prowlers. The list of suspects runs something in this wise: Bruce Snare, Walt Boles, Claude Austin, Rev. Pitman, Nick Baker and Perry Wall.

Each one, of course, plead innocent and to emphasize the fact that he was, joined in the hunt. After an hour or two of fruitless searching of the banks of Mule Creek, ravines, and bluffs, Mrs. Barron recalled having heard the Professor state a few days ago that he would love to sleep once more in a barn loft in the hay like he used to when he was a boy.

Well, to make a long story short, that is just what he was doing, and there they found him at 4:30 a.m. Unlike Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, however the body was found before the funeral was preached. Or was there a sermon preached, Professor? If so, it is the consensus of opinion of the hunting party that the wife was entirely within her rights.
