Lucile Thelma Bean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Bean of this city, died at 8:20 p.m. on last Monday, April 13, 1926, at the Bean home in the western part of this city. About eight weeks ago she was taken sick with intestinal flu and was sick about three weeks. She re-entered school but after two weeks, or on Saturday, March 20, she took sick again, and, in a short time, pneumonia developed. Her condition soon became critical, and she gradually grew worse, although everything possible was done for her relief. It was thought the latter part of last week that she was better, and hopes of her recovery were entertained up to within a short time of her death.Lucile was born in this city on July 12, 1919. At the time of her death, she was 6 years, 9 months and 1 day of age. She was a bright, lovable and dutiful child, and her untimely passing elicits from all the most profound sympathy for the bereaved and sorrow stricken family. Lucile is survived by her parents, by two brothers - Delose and Roy - and by a large number of other relatives; also many friends among her school mates.
Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church in this city at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. H. W. Cummings. It was a beautiful and impressive service. The church was well filled, and all felt keenly the sadness which was occasioned by the passing away of a child so much loved and so promising. Four boys acted as pallbearers, and six of Lucile's girlfriends were honorary pallbearers. The Sunday school class of which Lucile was a member sang "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam." Lucile had been a member of the Sunday school for some time, prior to the time she became sick, she was a regular attendant, and always showed much interest in Sunday school work. Interment was in Crown Hill cemetery. Many beautiful flowers were received from friends of the family.
