Heart Attack Fatal To J. Lynn Beeley

Dies Without Warning While Sitting In His Front Room

J. Lynn Beeley, well known farmer residing 10 miles southeast of Coldwater, passed away shortly before six o'clock on Thursday of last week while sitting with the family in the front room of his home. Without warning he slumped over and died instantly.

He suffered a heart attack two years before but had apparently been in normal health until a few days before his death, when he had an aching in his chest.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in this city last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Major W. Parker, who brought a comforting message, using his text, John 14:23. The scripture reading was from the 91st Psalm.

Mr. and Mrs. Gurney T. Hadley, accompanied by Mrs. Hobart McMillen, sang "Sometime We'll Understand," "When I Get to the End of the Way" and "Beyond the Sunset." Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery.

The active pallbearers were Roy Richardson, George Deewall, Reno_is Allen, Gloyd Hadley, Harrison Cook and H. H. Kopke. The honorary pallbearers were Hobart McMillen, Walter Ferrin, R. L. Lees, Verne Cooper, John Hilt and Wilford Betzer.

Obituary
.

John Lynn Beeley, son of William Ellsworth Beeley (deceased) and Mary Ellen Webster Beeley, was born November 10, 1897, in Cass County near Arenzville, Ill., and departed this life at his country home October 3, 1946, at the age of 48 years, 10 months and 23 days.

He lived in Cass county with his parents until 1904 when the family moved to Comanche county, Kans., and settled seven miles south and three miles east of Coldwater, which place has continued to be the Beeley family home. Here Lynn grew to manhood, attending the rural schools and Coldwater high school, graduating with the class of 1918.

On June 10, 1923, he was united in marriage with Frances Reola McKinney. To this union three children were born a daughter, Ellen Maxine Emerson, of Alva, a son, Ross Portland Beeley, of Coldwater, and a son who died in infancy.

At the age of 20 years, during the Rayburn evangelistic meetings Lynn made a confession of Christian faith and united with the Methodist Church of Coldwater, and he since had led a consistent Christian life.

Since the death of his father in 1938 Lynn farmed both his father's estate and his own land. He was always interested in the betterment of his community and served in many capacities for its development and improvement. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and an upright man.

He is survived by his mother, and his children, and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Emerson and grandson, Timothy Kent, and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Beeley and grandson, Ronald Lynn; also by other relatives and friends.

The sorrowing relatives have the sincere sympathy of all.
