The funeral of Mrs. Lucy Blackman was held from the George Moon house, yesterday afternoon, at 2:30, conducted by a former pastor of the Presbyterian church here, Rev. R. F. Fleming of Kansas City, Mo., assisted by Rev. C. G. Hamilton and a trio of men's voices, H. D. Evans, C. H. Porter and Samuel Tucker.The following obituary was read: Lucy Faley was born near Liberty, Clay county, Missouri, December 1, 1855, lived there until the close of the Civil War, moving to Barry county, Mo., and lived there until 1873, when she was married to E. A. Blackman and moved to Prescott, Kan., later moving back to Missouri. In 190_ she moved to Pleasanton, where she has resided ever since. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom survive: Flora Manchester, Huntington, Utah; Effie English, Shawnee, Okla.; Virgie Wood, Wilmore, Kan.; Bertha Milliam, Lexa, Ark.; Josephina Moon, Pleasanton; Zenas Blackman, Pleasanton; Amelia Tucker, Kansas City, Mo.; Cecil Thomas, Searcy, Ark.; two brothers, Joel Foley, Lindon, Mo.; and A. J. Foley, St. Joseph, Mo. The husband died in April, 1927. Mrs. Blackman united with the church when she was a young woman putting her letter in the Presbyterian church when she came to Pleasanton and was a constant worker in the church until she had to give it up because of her failing health. Pallbearers were members of the American Legion: Joseph Wurtz, William Leisure, Harry Keenan, Willis Baker, Glenn Allen, Hugh Mays. Interment was made in the Pleasanton cemetery. The children were all present yesterday for the funeral but one daughter, Mrs. Flora Manchester of Huntington, Utah. A brother, Joel Foley, of Lincoln, Mo., and many other relatives and friends from our of town were present for the funeral. - (Reprinted from) Fort Scott Daily Tribune Monitor.
