Early day settlers in Coldwater will remember Attorney C. O. Blake, who was a leading citizen here during the latter 80s. When Oklahoma was opened for settlement in the early 90s Mr. Blake became one of the builders of the new state. He located in El Reno, where he continued the practice of law. He soon took high rank among the attorneys of Oklahoma. Several years ago he was made attorney for Oklahoma for the Rock Island railway, and he still holds that position. Recently Mr. Blake was asked by the Western Star to contribute an article for publication on his recollections of pioneer days in Coldwater. We are hopeful of being favored with such an article soon. Mr. Blake writes as follows:El Reno, Okla., March 8, 1921.

Gentlemen: I acknowledge receipt of the several copies of "The Western Star" and of your very kind letter of February 17th. I appreciate your enterprise and greatly enjoyed the letters from my old friends, Reb Goddard, "Cannonball" Green and Cash Cade.
I have delayed answering, hoping I would be able to spare the time to quote your language, to "tell you of some of my early day impressions of Coldwater." I hope I will be able to do so at an early day. Those were glorious days, but when I reflect upon them, comedy and tragedy are so intermingled, that I do not know that I will be able to concentrate my mind open the former, and the tragedy is best left to the past.
I have many old and dear friends at Coldwater when I am constantly planning to visit. I hope to be able to render my account to them personally before many days. It is a matter of great regret that Reb Goddard's home coming had to be abandoned. I had arranged to attend. I hope to see the project revived.
