On Monday morning of this week Warren Bratcher, one of the prosperous and successful farmers of Protection, died at the home of Geo. H. Johnson in this city, a victim of a complication of diseases, following a brief illness. Mr. Bratcher had always been a man apparently strong and hearty, but had for a number of years been a sufferer from heart and stomach diseases. He was feeling sick on Tuesday of last week and came to town to see his physician, but had returned home again, the doctor being out of his office for a time. The following day he came again and did not get to see the physician but on Thursday came again and when the doctor diagnosed his case he pronounced his aliment pneumonia and sent him to the Johnson home, where he died the following Monday, as stated above.The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Tuesday afternoon, and interment was made in the Protection cemetery.
The deceased was a son of Harve Bratcher and was about thirty three years of age when he received the final summons. He was a steady and successful citizen, and had but recently purchased a half section of land a short way west of Protection.
The deceased was born in Comanche county on his father's homestead south of Protection February 15, 1885, and had made his home in this community constantly since. Ten years ago he was married to Miss Emma Johnson. To them were born two children, a boy and a little girl. Beside his wife and two children, he is survived by his father, mother, one brother and two sisters.
The sincere sympathy of the entire community is with the sorrowing bereaved ones, and especially with Mrs. Bratcher, who was also ill at the time of her husband's death, and who was unable to be with him in his sickness or attend the funeral.
