The funeral of J. P. Caudill, who died in Protection on Tuesday of last week, was held on Thursday from the Baptist church in that city. The attendance at the funeral was quite large, which fact attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Burial was in the Protection cemetery.Mr. Caudill had been a resident of Protection for 17 years, and during that time had taken an active part in the upbuilding of the town and community. He was Comanche-co's representative in the state legislature for two terms and served the interests of the county well. In his private and public life Mr. Caudill was a faithful husband and father and a good citizen. He leaves his impress upon the community, and to him the town owes much for his never failing spirit of optimism, of cheer and of progressiveness. In the truest sense of the word, he was a community builder.
The deceased is survived by his wife and one son, Clyde, of Wichita, Kansas. The sincere sympathy of all goes out to them at this time when they have been bereft of a kind loving husband and father.
Note: according to Protection Cemetery records, his name was Jesse P. Caudill.
