PROTECTION - Abram Wesley "Wes" Christopher, 23, died Nov. 12, 2005, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Wichita.He was born March 21, 1982, in Coldwater, the son of Jim and Vicki Hansen Christopher. He attended Protection Public Schools until 1999 and graduated from Ashland High School in 2000. He received an associate's degree in liberal arts from Hutchinson Community College in 2002 and was attending Wichita State University. He was a supervisor in the car audio department at Best Buy in Wichita.
He was a member of First Christian Church and Recreation Commission, both in Protection, was a Wichita Gymnastics Center volunteer, attended Nation-Wide Youth Roundup as a participant and sponsor, was on the Hutchinson Community College Cheer Squad and was selected as the HCC Ambassador of the Year in 2002.
Survivors include: his parents, Protection; a sister, Katie Christopher, a student at Fort Hays University, Hays; paternal grandmother, Lillie Christopher, Protection; maternal grandparents, Paul and Rebecca Zeman, Portland, Ore.; and maternal great-grandmother, Ruth King, Thermopolis, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Walter Christopher; and maternal grandfather, Stanley Hansen.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Protection, with Andrew Evans and Mike Elrod presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater. Burial will be in Protection Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Wes Christopher Protection Recreation Commission Memorial Fund or Christian Church N.Y.R. Camp Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
