Monday afternoon of this week while J. E. Copple was helping V. W. Seyfrit who was operating a caterpillar bulldozer in clearing the cans and other junk at the city junk yard at the southwest edge of Coldwater, Mr. Copple was seriously injured.

Some wire had gotten into the controlling mechanism of the bulldozer and Mr. Copple was lying beneath the bulldozer removing the wire, when, unexpectedly, the release on the long steel blade of the bulldozer was tripped and the blade fell onto Mr. Copple.

The edge of the heavy blade cut in two the small bone of his right leg below the knee, also severing an artery, and several ribs were broken. He suffered many bruises and a severe shock.

Mr. Seyfrit soon raised the blade with the power lift of the machine and an ambulance was called. Mr. Copple was rushed to the Comanche County hospital, and though he will be 74 next Monday, he is making a very satisfactory recovery. Jim's many friends hope he will soon be out of the hospital and back to normal health. This is the first time in his life he has been in a hospital, he says.
