Lena A. Day

Lena Annetta Day, 95, died July 31, 1996, at Protection Valley Manor Nursing Home, Protection.

She was born Apr. 1, 1901, near Coldwater, to Lee and Bertha Clark Elzea. She has been a Wilmore resident since 1906 and graduated from Wilmore High School in 1919. She lived in Protection Valley Manor since 1983.

A homemaker, she was a member, Sunday School teacher and assistant pianist for the former Baptist Church and an officer in the women's W. M. S. of Wilmore.

On Nov. 26, 1919, she married Warren Day at Wilmore. He died Feb. 5, 1966.

Survivors include: a brother, Lester Elzea of St. Cloud, Fla.; two nephews, Lee and Paul Gore, both of Vandalia, Mo.; and two nieces, Phyllis McNamara of Des Moines, Iowa, and Elsie Phillips of Aurora, Ill.

Graveside service was held Aug. 3, 1996 at Wilmore cemetery in Wilmore with Rev. Jack Wingate presiding.

Memorials may be made to Protection Valley Manor Nursing Home in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Box 417, Coldwater, Kans. 67029.
