Mrs. Mary E. Deubler died at 4:10 p.m. on last Monday, December 27, 1920, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jacob Kurz, in this city, after an illness of about three weeks, resulting from an attack of pneumonia. A few months ago Mrs. Deubler came to this city from Formosa, Kans., where she had been visiting relatives and was making her home with Mr. and Mrs. Kurz when she took sick. On Wednesday morning Mr. and Mrs. Kurz and Wm. G. Deubler started with the body for Warsaw, Ill., the old home of the Deublers, where burial will be made.Mrs. Deubler was born in Esson, Spangenburg, Germany, on September 28, 1838, and at the time of her death was 82 years, 2 months and 29 days of age. On December 31, 1857, she was united in marriage with Gotleib F. Deubler. To this union 12 children were born. The husband and five children preceded her in death. In the fall of 1884 Mrs. Deubler came to Comanche-co., and lived here until the year 1893, when she returned to her old home in Warsaw, Ill. About two years ago she moved from Illinois to Formosa, Kans., where she made her home with a daughter until a few months ago, when she came to this county. Mrs. Deubler had lived a long, eventful and useful life. She knew from actual experiences something of the hardships and privations of pioneer life. Throughout all the years of her life she had labored as best she could for the comfort and happiness of those about her. She lived a devoted christian life, having been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for many years. As a neighbor and friend she was always true to the highest instincts of womanhood and a life dominated by the spirit of Christ. But now her voice is stilled, her earthly life is ended, yet in the memory of all who knew her, she will ever live.
The surviving children are as follows: Mrs. Carrie Faeth of Fort Madison, Iowa, John H. Deubler, of Seiling, Okla., Edward G. Deubler of Phoenix, Ariz., Oscar Deubler of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Clara Blakely of Formosa, Kans., and Wm. G. Deubler and Mrs. Jacob Kurz of this county.
