Otis Talmage Deyoe, son of J. F. and Mary J. Deyoe, was born April 2, 1866 at Ravanna, Mo., and passed away at Lamar, Colo., December 18, 1948 at 3:15 p.m. at the age of 52 years, 8 months and 16 days.When a small boy he moved with his parents to Jetmore, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. He joined the Methodist church at an early age and retained his membership throughout life.
On May 18, 1917 he was married to Addie Brumfield of Jetmore, who passed away shortly following their marriage.
On July 16, 1918 he was married to Winifred M. Williams of Coldwater, Kansas. To this union four daughters and two sons were born: Mrs. Anna Belle Crow of Garden City; Mrs. Oda Faye Robinson of Lamar, Colo.; Mrs. Betty Gee of Ulysses; and Mrs. June Grubbs of Hugoton; Robert Deyoe of Ulysses and John Victor, who passed away in infancy.
He made his home in Comanche county near Coldwater, until the spring of 1923 when the family moved to a farm near Satanta, where they resided until 1926 at which time they moved to Grant county, near Ulysses, where they established their present farm holdings. In 1947 the son assumed active management of the farm when his parents moved to Lamar, Colo.
The deceased was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star of Ulysses, also the Southern Colorado Consistory of Pueblo, Colo.
He served in World War I and was a member of the American Legion at Ulysses.
Otis held his many friends and neighbors in high esteem. He was a kind and loving husband and father and enjoyed much pleasure from his family and grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his passing the wife; five children and his aged mother; Mary Jane Deyoe of Jetmore; one sister, Mrs. Roy Ellis of Coldwater; five brothers; Isaac Deyoe, of Araphoe, Colo.; Grover Deyoe of Crisfield, Kansas; Ezra Deyoe of Jetmore; Walter Deyoe of Coldwater; besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father, Joseph F. Deyoe, and one brother, Roy.
