Glenn Martin Dillinger

Glenn Martin Dillinger, 83, died Friday, January 18, 2008, at South Wind Hospice House in Pratt.

Born March 22, 1924, at Greensburg, he was the son of Charles W. and Beryl (Linder) Dillinger.

He was nearly a lifetime resident of Wilmore. He graduated from St. Paul High School in St. Paul. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and after a brief stint he was honorably discharged. He commenced working at and became the manager of the grain elevator in Wilmore in 1949, where he worked for 39 years before retiring. After retirement, he took on odd jobs feeding cattle and doing general farm work.

He was a member of the Wilmore Federated Church in Wilmore. Other memberships include the Wilmore Volunteer Fire Department and the Wilmore/Coldwater Masonic Lodge. He served as mayor and councilman in Wilmore, and served on the Powell Township Board for many years.

He married Marie Schrock Dec. 26, 1957, in Yoder. She preceded him in death Sept.12, 1978.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Loyd and Loren Dillinger, and one sister Eva Baker.

His survivors include: three sons, Martin Dillinger of Wilmore, Dean Dillinger and his wife Cheryl of Oregon, IL and Ray Dillinger of San Mateo,CA; one daughter, Karen Saari and her husband Eric of Wichita; two brothers, Carl Dillinger of Bella Vista, AR and Wayne Dillinger of Scammon; one sister, Lola Baker of Parsons; one granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Dillinger of Oregon, IL; and one step-grandson, Jon Hamilton of Austin, TX.

Funeral was Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008. Rev. Sue Talbot presided.

Burial followed at the Wilmore Cemetery at Wilmore.

Memorials may be sent to South Wind Hospice House or Wilmore Community Center in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
