Frank Dodson

Celebrates His 90th Birthday

Frank Dodson celebrated his 90th birthday on Tuesday, December 10, 1963, at his home in Coldwater. He was born at Woodburn, Ill., in 1873. Frank came to Comanche county in 1885 with his parents, E. T. and Sarah S. Dodson, and his sister, Mrs. Grace Cloud. For a time they lived on a claim from the government and then moved to the town of Avilla where he attended a private school. When the railroad came to Coldwater, the family moved to Coldwater.

Frank is a member of the Coldwater Methodist church.

Farming and cattle raising have been Frank's main interests during his lifetime. His general health at present is fair, although he is hard of hearing and has poor eyesight, he is able to get about fairly well.

Mrs. W. W. Darroch, a neighbor of Frank, baked his birthday cake.

MR. AND MRS. E. T. DODSON and FRANK DODSON

E. T. Dodson, his wife and two children, Frank and Grace, arrived in Coldwater, Kansas, during the winter and spring of 1885, Mr. Dodson in February, and the family in May.

He pre-empted a quarter-section of land near Avilla and built a home, where they lived until the town faded away. They then moved the house to land he had bought five miles south and two miles east of Coldwater, but lived in Coldwater and operated the farm and ranch from there.
