Mrs. Vivian Doig, wife of the late James G. Doig of Coldwater, passed away Thursday of last week in Norman, Okla. She had been in declining health for a number of years.Her body was brought to Coldwater for burial. Funeral services were held at the home of her nephew, Horace H. Rich, in this city last Saturday morning, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. and were in charge of Rev. H. C. Atkins, the Methodist pastor.
Mrs. Betty Allderdice and Mrs. Mary Caywood sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Abide with Me," accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Hobart McMillen. The pallbearers were Loren and Harold Herd, John Barlow, Victor and J. H. Allderdice and Gardiner Lyon. Interment was in Crown Hill cemetery.
Obituary Vivian Maude Doig, was born in Rock Island, Ill., February 18, 1869, and passed away in Norman, Okla., April 9, 1953, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 22 days.
Her parents were David H. and Hattie A. Hakes, who with their daughter, Vivian, moved to Cameron, Mo. She later moved to Coldwater where she and her sister, Mrs. Zoe Rich, entered into the millinery business. It was here that she met and married James G. Doig. Their marriage occurred June 10, 1896. To this union three children were born.
Two children preceded her in death. Mr. Doig passed away in Coldwater February 14, 1924. Shortly afterward, Mrs. Doig and her son moved to Wichita, where James Jr. attended Wichita University. She continued to make her home in Wichita until a few years before her death.
Mrs. Doig is survived by one son, James Doig, and his wife, Naomi Doig, and two grandchildren, James Jr. and Ann, all of Oklahoma City. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Doig was a resident of Coldwater for many years and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a kind and loving wife and mother.
