The Western Star, June 12, 1908.

WM. J. DOWNING DEAD.

William James Downing was born in Lewis county, Missouri, on November 15, 1858, and died at his home in Comanche county, Kansas, on Monday, June 8, 1908, after an illness of four weeks. For several days before his death, he was so badly paralyzed that he was entirely helpless. His health had not been good for sometime.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. L. Roberts of the Presbyterian church at the home at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, after which interment was made in the Coldwater cemetery.

Deceased leaves a sister, Miss Mary Downing, who was making her home with him, one son, Marvin, and a daughter, Eva. Mr. Downing came to Comanche county from northern Kansas 7 or 8 years ago. He was a good neighbor and a law abiding and respected citizen. To the bereaved sister and children the sincere sympathy of all is extended.
