The Protection Post, March 13, 1919.

MRS. LEE DRAKE DIES TUESDAY OF PNEUMONIA

On Tuesday, at about ten o'clock in the forenoon, Mrs. Lee Drake, who lived west of town on the John Alter ranch, died, a victim of pneumonia, following a siege of influenza.

Mrs. Drake was, before her marriage to Mr. Drake, Edna Bertha Schaubel, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schaubel of this city, and was born while her parents were living at Narden, Oklahoma, in February of 1900. Here she lived with her parents until about eleven years ago they moved to Clark county, bringing the family with them, and settling on a farm some six miles west of Protection. In the fall of 1916 the Schaubels moved to Protection and the next fall Mr. and Mrs. Drake were married - on the 7th of November, 1917.

On Monday, March 3rd, Mr. Drake, her husband was taken ill with influenza and on the following day Mrs. Drake also was taken ill, and on the third day, Wednesday, their three month old child, a little boy, was also taken ill. All three developed severe cases of pneumonia, and to the ravages of the disease the mother succumbed on Tuesday. At the time of going to press the father and baby boy are in a very critical condition.

The funeral will be held Friday by Nathan S. Franklin at the church of Christ, of which the deceased was a member. The services will be conducted by the pastor, Elder Nathan S. Franklin. Interment will be made in the Protection cemetery.
