Edith Edmonston Dies at Age 92

Long time Protection resident Edith Opal Edmonston died at Protection Valley Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, January 11, 1996. Mrs. Edmonston lived to the age of 92 years.

She was born at Hoisington, Kansas, on June 5, 1903, and her parents were Loten and Nellie (Darnell) Carey. She married Atlee Edmonston in Coldwater on August 14, 1927.

She graduated from Protection High School with the Class of 1924. She was a homemaker.

Edith was a member of the First Christian Church, Missionary Group No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star No. 364, and Mothers Study Club, all of Protection.

Her survivors include husband Atlee, of the home; one son, Raymond of Protection; two daughters, Marlene Woolfolk of Protection and Carmen Watson of Raytown, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the First Christian Church of Protection on Monday afternoon, with Barry Walker and Raymond Unruh presiding. The private family committal was in Protection Cemetery.

Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home of Coldwater was in charge of arrangements. Memorials for Edith Opal Edmonston may be sent to Protection Valley Manor Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home.
