Funeral for Protection resident Jesse Milo Edmonston was in Protection Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 1990.He died at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater Sunday after a short illness. He was 69 years old.
Milo was born on Christmas Day in 1920 at Protection, the son of Jesse John and Olive Sanders Edmonston. He was a former partner of Edmonston and Sons Chevrolet dealership in Protection. He graduated from Protection High School in 1939.
Milo was a member of the Protection Christian Church; Lions Club; American Legion; Order of the Eastern Star No. 364 and Protection Masonic Lodge No. 384.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Wichita Consistory. He was on the board of directors for both the Valley Manor Nursing Home and the Bank of Protection. He also served for more than 20 years on the board of directors for the Comanche County Hospital.
He was a veteran of World War II. During that war he served in the Pacific Theater and was a pilot of P-38 aircraft.
He married Mildred Coers in Los Angeles on May 12, 1945. She is among his survivors.
Other survivors include daughters, Joan Ellen of Mountain Center, Calif., and Gail Elise Baker of Protection; a brother, Atlee Edmonston of Protection; sisters, Lois Spangler of Peabody and Marie Williams of Ashland, and two grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Christian Church in Protection, Rev. Barry Walker officiating. Burial was in the Protection Cemetery. In charge of arrangements was the Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home of Coldwater.
Memorials may be sent to the Protection Valley Manor Nursing Home, both in care of the funeral home.
