Funeral services for Orla "Orley" Edmonston were held in the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with Mr. J. H. Lynch of the Christian Church and Rev. Grey of Wichita officiating. The community was shocked six weeks ago when it learned that robust "Orley" suffered a cancerous condition. An exploratory major operation in Wichita left no hope for his recovery, but he rallied until the final days of his life when he sank rapidly. It had been hoped "Orley" would have returned home to spend many happy months before the malady overcame him. He is sadly missed by a multitude of friends in this community.
At his services Mrs. Clifford Sibbitt, Mrs. Charles Jones, Mr. J. D. Rowland and Mr. Edgar Deck sang, "Going Down the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Casket bearers were Irtle VanWey, Clifford Sibbitt, Alva Morlan, Ivel Harvey, Virgil Harvey and Joy Hendrix - former farm neighbors of Mr. Edmonston.
Interment was in Protection cemetery.
