Jack Ferguson Dies After Brief Illness

Alfred (Jack) Ferguson, 69, passed away Sunday, April 16, 1972, at the Comanche County Hospital after a brief illness.

He was a member of the Coldwater Christian church.

Jack was born in 1903 in Gypsum, Kans., Saline county. The family moved to Protection in 1907. Jack grew up there, attending school and graduating from Protection high school. He attended a barber college in Wichita. He barbered there and at Abbyville before coming to Protection and then to Coldwater.

He was a friend of the children and was an ardent fan of the football squad each year.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Joyce Palmer, Alamogordo, N. M.; son, Royce, Oshkosh, Wis.; sister, Mrs. May Sanders, Protection, brother, Darold, San Fernando, Calif.

Funeral services were held at the Hatfield Funeral Home in Coldwater, Kans., on Tuesday, April 18, 1972, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bernard Plumb in charge.

Mrs. Denton Frazier sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Roy Burkhall.

Pallbearers were Leroy Zielke, Clarence Gillet, Bill Sanders, Bill Hoofer, Arlie Gray, and Paul Kropf.

Interment was in Crown Hill cemetery, Coldwater, Kans.
