Coldwater citizens were shocked to learn last Monday, February 10, of the death that morning in the Stamford, Conn., hospital of Mrs. Victoria Flowers. She had left Coldwater, her home of 15 years, on January 15 to make her home with the Rich Lyon family in Darien, Conn., but on January 21 suffered a heart attack and was confined to the hospital.Shortly before her death reports indicated that she was improving in health but she suffered a sudden relapse and passed away.
Her body was taken to Garver, Okla., near Enid, for burial. Funeral services were held in the Garver Christian church on Tuesday afternoon, February 13, at 2:00 o'clock and burial was in the Garver cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson, Mrs. J. W. Brewer and Mrs. Christine Heintz of Coldwater attended the services.
Obituary. Queenie Victoria Flowers was born in the Indian Territory near what is now Morrison, Okla., February 9, 1901, and passed away in Stamford, Conn., February 10, 1958, at the age of 57 years and 1 day.
She spent her early years near Morrison and married and made her home in Oklahoma until the death of her husband. She then moved to ElDorado, Kans., and continued to live there until she moved to Coldwater in 1943 to make her home.
She was employed by the Brewer Drug Co. in this city until 1956, when the business was sold, but continued to make Coldwater her home. Mrs. Flowers was active in the Coldwater Business Women's Club and served as its president in 1940-50. She was a faithful attendant at the Methodist church and encouraged all the better things in the community. She lived an exemplary life and was beloved by all who knew her.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jack Henry, Sr., of Plainville, Kans., a brother, Fred Moore, of Enid, Okla.; three nephews and three great nephews and a host of friends. Her untimely death is a distinct loss to all.
