Rest in Peace: Alley Alice Furrun

Alley Alice. Photo courtesy of Bertsie Ann. Little Alice (Aahlish, Ahhlisch, Ahliszh) went to play with the angels on Wednesday, January 14, 2004... a cloudy breezy day, with rain in the air. Her sudden encounter with a car on the 3400 block of N. Los Altos at 11:50 am was recorded by Pima Animal Care officer Lakowsky #1949, and so relayed to Bertsie Ann on Friday morning, when she reported a kitty missing since Wednesday. Alice is survived by Ms. Bloo, Emmy Lou Wemmers, and Fouchki Fern. Cheetakitty and Fergie Wuggums living nextdoor, and Maury Goldbug visiting daily, also feel her absence. Bertsie Ann will sorely miss her long conversations, and antics on the kitty tower. Her devoted friend, Jerry Ferrin, will not soon forget her.

(Note: although Alley Alice was commonly known by the surname of "Furrun", her actual surname was "Furred One").

The Alley Cat Song

Alice and Alcana came walking up the drive,
Just two hungry kitties, about 4 weeks alive,
And something in my head said:
"If you feed them, they will thrive",
Oh, Alley Cats, I'm so glad you could drop by.

Alice and Alcana are runnin' 'round the house,
Climbing up the curtains and chasing a catnip mouse,
And runnin' 'cross my head while I am reading on the couch,
Oh, Alley Cats, I'm so glad you could drop by!
