MOTHER OF WILMORE WOMAN TAKEN BY DEATH
Following is an account of the death of Mrs. Aseneth Richardson Grant, of Haysville, Kan, mother of Mrs. J. A. Gaddis of Wilmore, taken from The Clearwater News:
Aseneth Richardson was born at Albia, Iowa, April 30, 1856, and passed away at her home near Haysville, Kan., December 21, 1931, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 22 days. When but a small child she moved with her parents to a farm seven miles northwest of Albia where she grew to womanhood.
December 20, 1873, she was united in marriage with N. R. Grant, and in the year 1878 they moved to Kansas, locating near the town of Udall. From Udall they moved to the location near Haysville, where, ever since Mrs. Grant had resided and where her beautiful life was terminated.
At a very early age the deceased was converted and joined the Methodist Church, of which she remained a member until her death.
Mrs. Grant was the mother of eleven children, nine daughters and two sons, two of whom as well as the husband preceded her in death. Her husband passed away January 7, 1924. One daughter in infancy and another, Mrs. Pearl Wilcox, died in 1919.
There are left to mourn the loss of mother, sister and grandmother the following: two sons, Elgie of Hollywood, Calif., and Milton, of Selkirk, Kas.; and eleven daughters, Mrs. Jessie Gaddis, of Wilmore, Kas.; Nannie Cave, Bertha Allyn, Ida Burk, Stella Eccles, Ethel Willis and Miss Lillian Grant, all of whom reside near their mother's home. In addition she leaves one sister, Mrs. David Templeton of Haxton, Colo., and one brother, Dan Richardson, of Eddyville, Ia. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, besides a host of friends and admirers.
Mrs. Grant was a woman who was very devoted to her family and her home. She was faithful in any trust committed to her. Loyal to that which she regarded as duty, unflinching and brave when life's trials called upon her to exercise self-denial and self-surrender. She leaves a host of friends who regret the loss which her death, so sudden, has inflicted upon them.
Mrs. Grant was thoughtful and anticipating and looking death in the face, unafraid.
Rev. J. T. Sawyer, pastor of the M. E. Church at Haysville-Riverside Parish, conducted the services, at the residence, using as his text, these words, found in John 14:1-2, "Let not your hearts be troubled; ye believe in God believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so I would have told you."
