DEATH OF MRS. GEO. HACKNEY

Mrs. Ellen Hackney, wife of Geo. Hackney, died at 3:30 a.m. on last Sunday, March 22, 1922, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. E. McGauley, in this city. She took sick about four weeks before her death with the flu and was brought from her home near Lookout, to this city for medical treatment. Bronchial pneumonia set in, and instead of improving, her condition appeared to gradually grow worse. The end came peacefully and quietly early Sunday morning. Burial was made in the Lookout cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, the funeral services being in charge of Rev. A. Frank Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of this city.

Deceased was born in Kent, England, on September 29, 1851. On July 16, 1873, in Maindee, England, she was united in marriage with George Hackney. In October 1884, the family moved to America, settling in Clay Center, Kansas. Nineteen years ago they moved to a farm near Lookout, Okla., and there they continued to make their home. Mrs. Hackney was a kind and loving wife and mother and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She had been a member of the Catholic church for many years.

Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hackney, six of whom died while quite young. Mrs. Hackney is survived by her husband and the following children: Henry Hackney, who lives near Lookout; Mrs. R. E. McGauley of this city; Mrs. P. A. Engert of Clay Center; Walter, Anthony and Charles Hackney, who still live at the home. One brother, Lawrence Collins, lives in Briston, England. At the time of her death, Mrs. Hackney's age was 70 years, 5 months and 16 days.

Robert Emmet McGaully, son in law of Ellen (Collins) Hackney.
