The Western Star, April 24, 1953.

Home On 15 day Leave

Damage Controlman First Class Bob Hecht arrived in Coldwater on Wednesday evening on a 15 day leave and is visiting with his mother, Mrs. Henry C. Hecht, and other relatives.

Bob as a stripling youth enlisted in the Navy during the tail end of World War II, in March, 1945, and is now on his ninth year in that branch of the service. In about 12 years more he will have retired from the Navy at the age of 38.

During most of his service he has been overseas and last October came from fleet headquarters in Yokosuka, Japan, to Corpus Christie, Texas, where he is in the Public Information office.

Bob is another of the Coldwater youths who used to hang around the Star office and he has a good idea of the working of the value of Public Information as it applies to the Navy, also.
