Mrs. Clyde Heft, who had been ailing in health the past few years, passed away in the Hardtner hospital Monday evening of this week. She suffered a stroke and internal hemorrhage on November 14 and was taken to the hospital in Hardtner, but she failed to respond to medical treatment.Funeral services were held in the Coldwater Methodist church at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. Oscar Matthew, the pastor. There were many floral offerings, evidence of the high regard in which Mrs. Heft was held by all who knew her.
Mr. and Mrs. Gurney T. Hadley sang "Rock of Ages," "In the Garden" and Abide With Me." accompanied on the organ by E. R. Smizer.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers were Victor J. Allderdice, J. W. Brewer, Lovedren Hall, Glen McCulla, Harry Lohrding and Ernest Miller.
Obituary. Ruth Amelia, daughter of Albert and Cora Latas, was born January 14, 1895, in Pawnee county, Kansas, and departed this life December 8, 1947, at Hardtner, Kansas, at the age of 52 years, 10 months and 24 days.
She grew to young womanhood in Pawnee county and was there united in marriage with Clyde Earl Heft on May 1, 1912, in Larned, Kansas. They moved to a farm southeast of Coldwater, in which neighborhood she spent the remainder of her life.
To this union were born three children: Ruby, who died in infancy; Doyle Heft of Coldwater, and Mrs. Nadean Harbaugh of Protection, Kans. Her father, mother two brothers - John Clemens and Raymond C. - and one sister, Nellie, preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Clyde; her son, Doyle; and daughter, Nadean; one brother, Albert E. Latas, of Rozel, Kans.; and two grandsons: Jerry and Doyle Heft of Coldwater, and a host of friends.
Mrs. Heft was converted to the Methodist faith at the Fairview church in 1929 and was active in all the community affairs. She believed in and practiced the Golden Rule and her kindness thoughtfulness and generosity endeared her to all who know her.
She was a kind and loving mother whose self sacrifice and teachings to her family well be cherished throughout the days of their lives. The sorrowing relatives have the sincere sympathy of all.
