Beech Helvie, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Helvie, died at the home of his parents in Wichita-co., Kansas, on Wednesday, January 28, 1920, after an illness which had been brought about by an attack of the flu, followed by pneumonia. Not long before his death, Beech went to Kansas City to attend an automobile school and his death was the ultimate result of that trip. Deceased was born at Halstead, Kans., about 18 years ago. While quite young he moved with his parents to Comanche county and here it was he grew to young manhood. About three years ago the family moved to Scott-co., Kansas, and later to their present home in Wichita-co. Beech was an exemplary young man and was very popular with all who knew him. Last November he was converted and became a devout believer in Christ as his Savior. When death came he was fully prepared, and passed into the Great Beyond with a smile on his face. His death brings the keenest sorrow to all his relatives and friends, and to them the sympathy of all goes out at this time. The body was taken to Newton, Kansas, where interment was made. A sister of the deceased, Mrs. Will Denney of this county, reached his bedside about an hour after his death.
