Friday the sad news came to Protection that the four year old girl of Boyd Holler had been killed at Scott City. The body was brought across the country and buried in the local cemetery Saturday. The accident that caused the death of the little girl is to be very much regretted. The dead girl and her brother had gone with the father in an empty wagon to a neighbor on an errand. The father had gotten out of the wagon and was but a few steps away when a flock of sheep appeared suddenly and without warning scaring the team. They ran away and overturned the wagon the little girl being crushed about the head and chest by the wagon box which was overturned. The little two year old boy was also quite badly injured but is recovering nicely at this time.
The victim of the accident was a sunny little girl sweet tempered and dearly loved by all who knew her. The family had but a week ot two ago moved from Protection to Scott City.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Mawdsley from the Methodist Church and was attended by a large concourse of friends.
The sympathy of the community goes to the bereaved parents in their hour of trial and tribulation and may the solace of sweet sympathy and friendship be theirs.
According to her gravestone, this little girl was named Iona Holler.
