Alvin Duane Huck, age 6 years, 8 months and 6 days, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Huck of Avilla-tp., died on last Monday afternoon, April 19, 1926, after an illness of only two days duration.A few years ago he was injured in one side when a wagon struck him, and it is thought that the injury received then developed a case of appendicitis. His condition became worse on last Sunday, and on Monday he and his father started for Dodge City for medical attention but Duane became worse on the way and died before they reached that city.
The father returned to this county with the body, and funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday afternoon. They were in charge of Rev. W. T. Walker, pastor of the Presbyterian church of this city. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery.
The suddenness of little Duane's death caused the shock to his parents and friends to be especially severe. He attended school last week and there was nothing at that time to indicate that his condition was serious.
Duane was liked by all who knew him. His sudden and untimely passing away leaves a vacant place in the home circle which can never be filled. Duane will not soon be forgotten. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of all in their hour of sad bereavement. As their hearts are bowed down with their heavy sorrow, they can only turn to Him who "doeth all things well."
Duane is survived by his parents and by three brothers - Vernon Leroy, Delmar Dean and Norman Lee.
