Mrs. C. A. Huckelbridge of Coldwater passed away Wednesday of last week in the Hardtner hospital where she had been for treatment for 10 days. She suffered four paralytic strokes before her death.Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in this city last Friday at 2:30 p.m. and were in charge of Rev. M. M. Anspaugh, pastor of the Assembly of God church in Attica and a former pastor in this city. Mrs. J. P. Scholle sang "Saved by Grace," "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Hobart McMillen organist.
Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery by the side of her husband, who passed away in December, 1944. The active pallbearers were Gomer Lemon, Vernie White, Charles Gregg, Lester Lenertz, Burke Burnette and Virgil McIntyre and the honorary pallbearers were Guss Bramlett, Frank Dodson, Charles Allderdice, Frank Todd, Alvah York and Ralph Todd.
Obituary Bertha Laura Reed, daughter of James and Anna Reed, was born at Wellington, Kans., January 11, 1876 and departed this life after a lingering illness, at the hospital in Hardtner, Kans., May 28, 1948, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 15 days.
She was united in marriage with Arthur Huckelbridge, March 17, 1897, at Wellington, Kans. To this union were born eight children. She was preceded in death by her husband and one infant son. Surviving are seven children: Mrs. Anna Carthrae, Mrs. Margaret Seyfrit and Harold Huckelbridge of Coldwater, Mrs. Juanita Taylor of Bellvue, Nebr., Mrs. Myrtle McIntyre of Wichita, Kans., John Huckelbridge of Yuma, Arizona, Walter Huckelbridge of Genoa, Volo., two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Cornwell of Chualar, Calif., Mrs. Minnie Richardson of Kansas City, Mo., 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Huckelbridge came to Comanche county with her husband in 1906, settling in the Bethel community where she spent the greater part of her life.
In her early life she united with the Baptist church and was true to her faith with a steady trust in God until the end.
She was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends
