The Western Star, June 2, 1922.

DEATH OF MRS. HUFFMAN

Mrs. Polina Huffman, aged nearly 86 years, died on last Saturday, May 27, 1922, at the home of her son, Dan Huffman, in Hutchinson the cause of her death being paralysis, with complications resulting from a broken hip which she sustained several years ago. The body was brought to this city on Monday and burial was made in Crown Hill cemetery, following funeral services which were conducted from the M. E. church and which were in charge of Rev. G. W. Harvey of the Prairie Vale Friends church.

About 13 years ago she and her husband, Cyrus P. Huffman, moved from Linn-co., Kansas to Comanche-co. and settled about 10 miles northwest of this city. Mr. Huffman died on October 20, 1911, after which Mrs. Huffman made her home with her daughter, Mrs. U. G. Wheeler until after Mrs. Wheeler's death in July, 1920. Grandma Huffman then moved to Hutchinson, Kans., where she made her home with her son, Daniel Huffman, who travels for the International Harvester Co.

Mrs. Huffman was converted at an early age, lived a consistent Christian life and died in the triumph of a living faith. The last four years of her life were years of affliction, most of her time being spent in bed, and those who came in contact with her were blessed and encouraged in the Lord.

At the time of her death she was a member of the Prairie Vale Friends church six miles northwest of Coldwater. During the last few days of her life although hindered in speech by paralysis she spoke enough to let her children know that she was exceedingly happy in the Lord and ready and anxious to go. During the early part of her last sickness she talked with her son of her death just as if planning to go on a journey, and made the plans for her funeral services.

Mrs. Huffman was the mother of eight children, five of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. Ada Huff, Sterling, Colo., Mrs. Emma Hewes, Coolidge, Kans.; Mrs. Rhoda Van Devender, Stoneham, Colo.; Wm. Huffman, Tale, Okla.; and Daniel Huffman, Hutchinson, Kans. They were all present at the funeral. Besides these, Mrs. Huffman leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of friends. In the death of this dear saint of God, those who knew her, realize the truth of the scripture, "Blessed are the dead that died in the Lord."
