Mrs. W. V. Jackson, widely known and loved resident of this county, died at her home south of Wilmore, Monday, after having been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Jackson was the wife of Comanche county's most noted legislator, W. V. Jackson, who was a power in state politics for a number of years and was one of the outstanding leaders of the Republican party while in the legislature. Mr. Jackson also was the first state budget director, under Gov. Ben Paulen.

Mrs. Jackson was known by hundreds in this county and the state at large and loved by all who knew her.

She is also survived by her husband and by two sons and two daughters.

Rose Belle Robertson, born at Spirit Lake, Iowa, December 10, 1868. Was married to William V. Jackson, April 18, 1889. United with Methodist church when first organized at Fairview school house. Died Dec. 28, 1931. Aged 63 years and 18 days.

Surviving are husband and four children and thirteen grandchildren. Her children are: Dan N. Jackson, Mrs. Ruth Beitler, Charles R. Jackson and Mrs. Lucile Betzer, all of this county.

She has one brother living, A. J. Robertson, of Quinian, Okla. Mrs. Jackson was brought to Montgomery County, Kansas in 1872.

After the death of the father, the widow and three young children returned to their kindred in Ontario, Canada, where they lived until 1876 when they returned to the home in Montgomery County.

In the fall and winter of 1884 the family came to Comanche County and the mother and son pre-empted land near Fairview schoolhouse. After her three children were married, Mrs. Robertson was married to Mr. E. Burt of Shawnee, Okla., and removed to that country where her son and one girl had already gone. After the death of Mr. Burt, the widow came to live with her daughter, Rose Jackson, and is now buried in Crown Hill.

W. V. Jackson was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1863 and came to Comanche County in 1885 and settled on a claim in Shimer Township. Mrs. Jackson, nee Rose Robertson, was born at Spirit Lake, Iowa, in 1868. She came to Comanche County in 1884 with her mother, sister and brother and also settled on a claim in Shimer Township.

They were united in marriage in 1889 and to this union were born four children: Dan N., Ruth (Mrs. Fred Beitler), Charles R., and Lucille (Mrs. Wilford Betzer).

Mr. Jackson served two terms as Comanche County Treasurer and also served six terms in the Kansas House of Representatives. As pioneer settlers they had many trying experiences, but with unswerving faith and patience they built their home and resided at "Valley Farm" until their passing.
