Robert King, known over the county as "Bob," passed away last Friday, September 4, 1936, at the home of his son, Donnie King, northwest of this city, aged 89 years and 12 days. he had been in a serious condition of health for a long time. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Friends church, with the pastor, Rev. Blaine Stands, in charge, and interest was in the old Avilla cemetery beside the wife, who had preceded him in death many years. There was a large attendance at the service. Pallbearers were six Legion members. The following obituary notice has been furnished us:

Robert King was born August 22, 1847, at Buford, Ky., and departed this life September 4, 1936. He was united in marriage with Nancy Jarnagin in the year 1875. the wife passed away January 9, 1803, at Comanche City. To this union eight children were born, two of whom, James N. and Lou Verta Polton, preceded him in death. The surviving children are, Rufus, of Mullinville, Kans., Frank of Buffalo, Okla., Mrs. Effie McBride of California, Mrs. Ada Kearns of Hopewell, Kans., Roy E. of Indianapolis, Ind., and Donnie of Coldwater.

The deceased came to Kansas in 1884, and proved up a homestead near Comanche City. His home had been in Comanche county from that time, with the exception of a few years spent at Alva, Okla.
