Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Leiter received a letter the latter part of last week from their son, Rufus, which was the first they had received from him in several weeks. Rufus wrote from Base Hospital No. 28, in France, and the letter was written on November 23, two weeks after the armistice became effective. He had been in the hospital because of a felon on the 3rd finger of his right hand, in which he had gotten an infection while on the battle field. He wrote a short account of his trip over the pond, but said nothing of his experiences at the front although his regiment was in the thick of the fighting at St. Mihiel last summer, and on other sectors later. He says that he had a touch of home while in the hospital for the nurse who attended him was an instructor of his sister, Miss Stella, in the hospital in Wichita. In mentioning coming home he said that he expected to be returned home again some time in the spring.
