Jake Lemon Dies After Long Illness

Had Been a Resident of This County Since 1938

Jake Lemon, retired Coldwater trucker, who had been in declining health for several years, passed away quietly at his home in Coldwater last Saturday morning.

Funeral services were held in the Hatfield Funeral Home in this city Monday afternoon, October 14, at 2:30 o'clock and were in charge of Paul R. Markstrom, pastor of the Assembly of God church in this city.

Mrs. Myrl Haun and Mrs. Leroy McGinnis, accompanied by Mrs. Ferrel Guizlo sang "Going Down the Valley" and "Rock of Ages."

The active pallbearers were T. R. Hackney, R. Q. Mills, John Thompson, Muriel Gregg, Cecil Wilson and Chester Hiner and the honorary pallbearers were J. C. Lemon, A. J. Six, John Schenk, George Hackney, Claude Sims, Harve Thompson, Bert Griffith, John Shimer, L. Atteberry, Henry Waller and Harry Kropf. Interment was in Crown Hill cemetery at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning after the arrival of a son, Gomer Lemon, from Libby, Mont.

Obituary.

Jake Lemon was born June 10, 1878, at Dandridge, Tenn., and passed away in Coldwater, Kans., October 12, 1957, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 2 days.

The Lemon family moved to Comanche county in 1938 and three years later came to Coldwater to make their home. Mr. Lemon was engaged in the trucking business until his retirement several years ago. He was a kindly and honorable man and before his illness faithfully attended the Assembly of God church in Coldwater.

He is survived by his wife, Etta; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Jones of Dandridge, Tenn., and Mrs. Roberta Guccione of Warren, Mich.; three sons, Luther of Coldwater, Charles of Dandridge, Tenn., and Gomer of Libby, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Duncan of McKinney, Texas, and Mrs. Doras Payne of Knoxville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. One son, John, passed away July 18, 1925.
