A state warrant was issued Monday by H. R. Rich, county attorney, for Mr. and Mrs. Jay Lyons, charging grand larceny in connection with a calf in their possession which they were unable to account for.

Mr. Lyons confessed to George Speed Tuesday morning that he had stolen the calf from Fred Parker, a rancher living in the southeast part of the county. The couple were arraigned before Judge Karl Miller Wednesday afternoon.

The couple was arrested and held for investigation Saturday by Sheriff W. T. Giles. Mr. Lyons was held in the Protection jail while Mrs. Lyons was taken to Coldwater.

Suspicion was first aroused last week when a white faced calf was seen at their residence. Sheriff Giles first questioned Mrs. Lyons about where they had obtained the calf. After he had questioned Mr. Lyons and found their stories contradicted each other, he placed them under arrest. Mr. Lyons told Mr. Giles he obtained the calf from his brother who lives near Camp Houston in Oklahoma.

Sheriff Giles and H. H. Rich made a trip to Oklahoma late Saturday night to interview Mr. Lyons' brother and he denied any connection with the deed.

The state warrant was issued Monday after Mr. Lyons' parents had called at the court house in Coldwater and interviewed Mr. Rich and Mr. Giles.

All three denied having sold or given the calf to Mr. Lyons.
