Clarence Joseph Marty was born Jan. 16, 1911 at Protection, Kans. and passed into the higher life at 1:30 a.m. July 3, 1918. The funeral services were held at the family residence southwest of Protection, conducted by the Rev. Father Die of Sitka. The little body was laid to rest in the Protection cemetery, July 5th.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. Marty's two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. Eugene Stebbins, husband and daughter, and Mrs. Josie Evans and little son, Kenneth of Eldorado, Kan., also a sister of Mr. Marty, Mrs. C. F. Ballwig and two sons of Edwardsville, Illinois, also Mr. W. C. Wilson of Wichita, Kan.
Little Clarence had a most amicable disposition which endeared him to everyone. He was a manly little fellow and easily lead in the paths of right. The little fellow bore his suffering with patience and left this world like a little one going to sleep upon his mother's breast.
His pall bearers were chosen from his school mates. They were Arthur Windus, Willie Bonham, Floyd Bonham and Ray Giles.
