November 9, 1919, is the first we hear about this small lad, "But my oh my!" we hear plenty of him the first week weeks. He evidently wanted to be well known for he at least did his share of broadcasting his coming into this world. As he grew older, this seemingly unnecessary advertising of his babyhood days, helped him greatly. For one day he was missing, everyone in town was looking for him. Yes-they found him-in the great wide pastures around Wilmore, Kansas. Though this happened when he was nine years old it is a never to be forgotten incident in his eventful life.
Sometime later, when he entered the Seventh grade, it seems he just couldn't get accustomed to the high school ruler and regulations. As a result he was turned over an old saw horse, and again he did a fair job of broadcasting.
His one weakness seemed to be writing notes. As one thing leads to another, writing notes led to writing themes. We wonder, were the themes as interesting as the notes?
The most interesting chapter of this now sophisticated young mans life is his meeting with the "girl of his dreams" and I don't mean "nightmare." It happened like this.
One evening Miss - and Mr. - met - to Miss - lets go walking. Oh gee! on the streets in Coldwater. Says Mr.- says Miss -. They walked way up to the Christian Church and back. Then.
But we're intruding on his private life, let's get back to the public part of it.
During his junior year in school he played the leading role in the play "Mother Mine." The only disappointment being that he didn't get to play opposite his "lady fair."
All during his high school career he has played on the first team in basketball. His most interesting out of town games being played in Greensburg.
Now this young man is a dignified senior, who loves to prepare speeches. In fact he even practiced by saying them to Masterson's poor helpless cows.
As we see this prospering young man strut from class to class we cannot help thinking that someday he may be more than just a "dairy man."
