Huldah Craven-McKinney, wife of Rev. Fred McKinney, died at 12:30 a.m. on last Sunday, June 10, 1923, after a brief illness which resulted, apparently, from an abscess on the liver. Funeral services were conducted at the home in the Prairie Vale neighborhood northwest of this city Monday and were in charge of Rev. Wood of Haviland. The body was taken to Otego, Kans., near Northbranch, her girlhood home, for burial. At the time of her death, Mrs. McKinney's age was 34 years, 9 months and 27 days. She is survived by her husband and six children, the youngest being only two weeks old.Mrs. McKinney was a devoted wife and mother and a splendid neighbor. Her life had been one of service to others. Her kindly ministrations and her beautiful character had made their impression on all with whom she came in contact. She will be missed, so sadly missed, in the homes and among those with whom she lived. The bereaved husband and children have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their hour of sad affliction.
Rev. and Mrs. McKinney came to this county about a year ago from southwestern Missouri, Rev. McKinney having been appointed pastor of the Prairie Vale Friends church, a few miles northwest of this city. During the past few months nearly all of the children in the family suffered an attack of influenza or pneumonia and this drew heavily upon the strength and vitality of the mother.
Mr. and Mrs. McKinney were married on May 25, 1910. Mrs. McKinney was a splendid type of the christian wife and mother. She was a birthright member of the Friends church having been converted in her girlhood. Her consecrated life kept her close to her Christ at all times, and her constant example of faith and of hope in "Him who doeth all things well," will ever inspire others to the same experience. Hers was a life of sacrifice and loving service.
CARD OF THANKS We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to all our friends who so kindly and lovingly gave assistance during the fatal sickness of our beloved wife and mother, also for the beautiful floral offerings at the funeral and for the words of cheer and comfort we have received. Fred J. McKinney and children.
