Mrs. Margaret McKinney, an early settler in this county, died in the Alva, Okla., General Hospital Sunday, January 3. She had been in declining health for several years.Funeral services were held in the Stiles Mortuary in Alva Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and interment was in Crown Hill cemetery near Coldwater at 3:30 p.m. The graveside services were in charge of Rev. Dean W. Dryden, pastor of the Methodist church in this city. Pallbearers were Victor Stark, John Wallace, Roy Harris, Monte Barnes, Junior Darroch and John William Brand, nephews of Mrs. McKinney.
Those from this county attending the services at Alva and here were Mr. and Mrs. Joe J. Darroch, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Darroch, Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace, Junior Darroch, Mr. and Mrs. Monte Barnes and Victor Stark.
Obituary. Margaret Chaffee McKinney was born at Rockville, Ind., September 6, 1881, and passed away in Alva, Okla., on January 3, 1960, at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 28 days.
She came with her parents, John and Panthea Darroch, to Comanche county in 1884 and grew to womanhood on the Darroch homestead northwest of Coldwater.
She was united in marriage with Charley McKinney in 1907. There were no children to this union. She had made her home in Alva, Okla., about 16 years. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the Alva Methodist church, and the Wellington Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. McKinney was a kindly woman and made many friends. She leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, Joe and Will Darroch, of Coldwater and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Harris of Wichita and Mrs. Julia Brand of Alva, Okla.; also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
