DEATH OF AN OLD SETTLER

Dr. H. M. Mitchell, aged 50 years died at his home in Avilla last Sunday, June 12th, of dropsy, after a lingering illness of 3 months. He was one of the first settlers in the county, emigrating here in '84 from Carrollton, Mo. He settled at Avilla in the early settlement of the county, where he has been engaged in the practice of medicine. He leaves a wife and two grown children, besides a large circle of friends to mourn his death. His remains were consigned to their last resting place on Monday at 1 p.m., in the Avilla cemetery. Rev. Mellior conducting the funeral services.
