The Protection Post, July 30, 1987.

Elva Moore Passes On

Elva Lola Moore, 76, a resident of the Protection area since 1931, died here on Friday, July 24, 1987.

She passed away at Valley Manor Nursing Home, where she had resided since March 4 of this year. Prior to that time, she had lived at Centennial Court.

Mrs. Moore was, in fact, one of the very first residents to move into Centennial Court when it opened here. She lived there until moving to Valley Manor.

She was born at Mulkey, Oklahoma, on September 17, 1910, as Elva Lola Sims.

On April 6, 1935, at Buffalo, Okla., she married Paul F. Moore. He died November 25, 1964, and Elva was buried beside him Sunday afternoon at the Protection Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore was a retired practical nurse, and had been employed at Coldwater in the Comanche County Hospital.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, James B. Moore of Danville, Illinois; a sister, Alma Dowling of Ashland, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, at Protection Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Nagel officiated. Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home of Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial for Elva may go to the Comanche County Hospital at Coldwater.
