Mildred Moore Dies at Protection

Funeral was Monday afternoon in Protection for longtime resident Hershel Mildred Moore.

She died on Friday, December 30, 1994, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater. She lived to the age of 83 years.

Born on January 23, 1911, in Ozark County, Missouri, Mildred was the daughter of Phares and Dovie Lee Webster Knapp. She had been a resident of Protection since 1913, moving there from Missouri.

Mildred was a graduate of Protection High School with the class of 1930.

She attended Alva, Oklahoma, Normal School, and attended Fort Hays State University. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the Baptist Church and the Loyal Community Club, both of Protection, and the Kansas Genealogical Society.

On August 2, 1936, she married Merton Moore at Protection. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1989.

Her survivors include a son, Gary Moore of Protection; a daughter, Myrlee Greenstreet of Raytown, Missouri; seven grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Protection, with the Rev. Grady Arnold officiating. Burial was in the Protection Cemetery. Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home of Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be sent to the Protection Valley Manor Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home.
