A steam threshing machine has been at work on Mule creek, threshing millet for Messrs. McIntire, Horn and Ruttman. Millet seed will undoubtedly bring a good price in the spring, as the millet crop in the counties east was a failure this season.

The first steam mill in Comanche county is located on J. H. Kissick's place, on Indian creek, and will be ready for business in about two weeks. It will be a custom mill, and will grind on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of each week. The settlers should give it their patronage.

A destructive prairie fire swept over the county east of Indian creek last Tuesday, destroying a lot of hay for J. H. Corder and others, and burning a stable, set of harness, saddle and a quantity of feed for Mr. Bond, and came very near burning his house. The fire originated from a campfire built by a fellow who was rustling wood on Mr. Horn's place. It is strange how careless people will be in regard to prairie fires. Hay stacks are standing here an there over the prairie and not a sign of a fire guard around them.
