Mrs. Rosa A. Norton, 95, of Protection, died June 20, 1983, at Protection Valley Manor nursing home, after a long illness. She was born Rosa A. Wingo, Nov. 19, 1887, at Elkland, Mo.She and Edward Norton were married Feb. 28, 1915, at Elkland. They had lived at Protection since 1916. Mr. Norton died in 1956.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Lindsay of Coldwater and Mrs. Marjorie Baker of Augusta; two sons, Norman of Silver City, N. M., and Billy of Beaver, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, at the Protection Christian Church with the Rev. Ed Maxwell officiating. Burial was in the Protection cemetery. Hatfield-Prusia Funeral home, Coldwater, was in charge. Family members suggested memorial contributions to the church or to Protection Valley Manor.
