The Wilmore News, October 5, 1928.

Jack Vernon Pendergraft

Funeral services for little Jack Pendergraft who died in Dodge City last Friday were held at the Baptist Church in Wilmore Sunday. The Rev. Sowers officiating. The body was in charge of T. R. Berrey, local funeral director, who went to Dodge City and brought it home Friday night.

A large number of sorrowing friends and relatives paid tribute to little Jack's memory, the crowd overflowing into the church yard. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved parents.

Once we had a fragrant blossom
Full of sweetness, full of love,
But the Angel came and plucked it
For the beauteous World above,

Little Jack - he was our darling,
Pride of all the hearts at home
But the Angels softly singing
Came and whispered, "Darling Come"

Oh our loved one, when we meet you
In the Joyous World above,
Gladly will we haste to greet you,
-- A friend.
