Mrs. John H. Poltera, a resident of Comanche county from 1890 until 1914, passed away in Kansas City, Mo., last Friday, January 20, 1939, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Craver, at 7100 Penn-st., in which city Mrs. Poltera had resided since leaving here with her husband in 1914. She had been ill for the past year, and seriously so for the past two months. Besides the daughter at whose home she died, Mrs. Poltera is survived by her husband, John Poltera, of Los Angeles, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Paul Dunlap, Mrs. Joseph Birmingham and Mrs. Frank Degan, all of Kansas City, Mrs. Newt Wilkinson of Douglas, Wyo., and by three sons - Andrew and William B., of Kansas City, and L. H. Poltera of Coldwater, Kans. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.Funeral services was from the Mellody-McGilley funeral home Saturday morning at 8:30, with services at St. Vincent's church in Kansas City at 9 o'cock. Interment was in Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Poltera was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 3, 1867. She was married to Mr. Poltera in Kansas City in 1886. She left many friends here when the family moved back to Kansas City.
