Another one of Comanche-Co. big live stock ranches passed into history this week when Thead Gillet, foreman of the Round Oak ranch rounded up nine hundred head of cattle and drove them to Wilmore and shipped them to the flint hills pastures. This ranch consisted of 9,000 acres of fine grazing land well watered, and had been leased for a number of years by the firm of Bitler & Gregg who always kept it well stocked with cattle. Thead Gillett had been their foreman for several years. This ranch has all been sold in small farms and Mr. Gillet, said that several of the new owners had begun to break sod and drill wells before he got the cattle off the land. There will be a large amount of improving done on these new farms this spring. A few of the farmers have their houses built already. Thus this country is gradually growing from a cattle country to a mixed farming district.
