Nescatunga Enterprise, January 15, 1887

A Mrs. Ratliff from south-east of town was in town Wednesday, and told a pitiful story of neglect and desertion. She stated that her husband had left her and six children without a mouthful to eat, and had taken away the bed clothing, not even leaving enough to keep them from freezing. We do not know whether her statements are true or not, but if they are, the husband is certainly a miserable brute. He may have an excuse for deserting his wife, but he can have no excuse for robbing his children of the bare necessities of life.

Manoah Ratliff vs Anna M. Ratliff; divorce granted.
